3 Things To Remember For a Viral YouTube Video
Things that can instantly boost your YouTube views
As a writer, I try not to limit myself to one particular platform. While I still continue to write through my blogs, I also venture into repurposing content via YouTube and other social media channels. Through these platforms, I gain more readers not only for my blog, but for my books as well.
Here’s a quick post for all of you who are also trying their best to get as many views as possible for their YouTube videos.
Some of us may have already entered the YouTube Partner Program while some may still be waiting to reach their goal of having at least 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time to qualify.
Based on personal experience, there are some videos that quickly gain many views. Yes, just hours after posting them!
You don’t necessarily have to have a big following on other social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to share your YouTube links. (Although this would certainly help!)
But even if you only have a few followers on those, you can still reach thousands of views on your videos if you carefully take note of these 3 important factors:
1. Make sure you have an attractive thumbnail of your video
If you were like me in the beginning, you may not think this would matter much. But unless you have this, your chances of getting thousands of views may be immediately cut off.
Don’t let your chances die prematurely. Ensure that your thumbnails are attractive to your viewers. Which ones would stand out? If you were a viewer, which one would you click?
2. Use relevant keywords
Your job does not end with creating the video. You should complete the process by including the relevant keywords in various parts of your publication.
What are these parts? See to it that your title, description and tags contain the relevant keywords for your niche.
What are people searching? What topic is trending that your video could be related with?
YouTube would match what people are searching not only to your video content but also to the words accompanying your video.
Don’t neglect the details that could spell the difference between a highly viewed video and a video with poor performance.
3. Create an interesting video to watch from beginning to end
Now this one should always be a given. All the other things won’t matter of your video fails to deliver in engaging the people watching it.
It only takes a few seconds for people to decide whether they want to continue watching your video or not. They can’t wait too long for more interesting parts of your video.
See to it that you catch and retain their interest from beginning to end.
I have noticed this in my own videos. There are some videos that failed to catch the attention of viewers in the beginning and there are some that failed to retain their interest later on.
Those videos that succeeded in garnering high views were those that caught the interest of audience from start to the end.
Final Thoughts
What’s good with YouTube is that it would recommend your videos if it sees that people are clicking on them and watching them for a good duration of time.
Other added factors that could help are “likes” and “shares” so that more people could watch your videos.
See to it that you don’t neglect any of the above factors and you’re on your way to success!
