Are You Happy With Your Life?
And why it's okay even if the answer is "No"
If we’re ever going to be very honest with ourselves, we’d admit that there are things in our lives we’re not so happy about. It could be things in our career or our chosen vocation. It could be about certain health concerns. It could include our current financial worries and responsibilities. It can even be about problems in our most important relationships.
What is it about this life that seems to create problems everywhere?
We can be happy one moment and then be tragically sad the next. We can hum a song of contentment in the morning and then encounter countless troubles throughout the day.
I guess none of us can possibly say we’re always happy. Even the most positive person would encounter pain and loss somewhere in one’s life. Suffering follows us from the very moment we were born.
“I cannot promise you happiness in this life; only in the next,” says Our Lady of Lourdes to St. Bernadette.
But if this is the truth, what should we look forward to in life? What should we expect the rest of our lives would be like? Would there be any difference at all for those who believe in God?
Perhaps this is where the word “joy” can help us. Joy that can be with us through the ups and downs of this life. Joy that speaks about our heavenly hope. Joy that can mingle even with our deepest griefs.
And if the word “joy” is still hard to understand, maybe we can try the word “peace”.
“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.” - John 14:27, WEBBE
Are you happy with your life?
Though you may not always be happy, you can be “at peace.” That is the portion God gives to those who trust in Him.
“For a child is born to us. A son is given to us... His name will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” - Isaiah 9:6

I appreciate the message of this post, but could you please explain what you're referring to by "portion" in the final sentence - "That is the portion God gives to those who trust in Him"?
