“And they cried to the Lord in their affliction: and he delivered them out of their distresses. He sent his word, and healed them…” – Psalm 106:19-20, DRA
There are days when we need God’s healing more.
Sometimes it’s physical or emotional healing. At other times, it’s spiritual healing.
At a time when a pandemic seems to have changed the world we’re living in, we need to recall even more the healing power of God. We are not orphans without a Father. We are not left on our own.
God has promised His comfort.
He has promised His peace. Let us call to mind today His many promises to help us in times of need.
Below are some of the Bible quotes you can read as you reflect or even pray for God’s healing today:
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to heal the broken hearted,
to proclaim release to the captives,
recovering of sight to the blind,
to deliver those who are crushed,
and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
- Luke 4:18-19 (WEBBE)
“For the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy, says: ‘I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also who is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite… I have seen his ways, and will heal him.’” – Isaiah 57:15,18 (WEBBE)
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound to us, even so our comfort also abounds through Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 (WEBBE)
“Is any amongst you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.” – James 5:14-16 (WEBBE)
“Isn’t this the fast that I have chosen:
to release the bonds of wickedness,
to undo the straps of the yoke,
to let the oppressed go free,
and that you break every yoke?
Isn’t it to distribute your bread to the hungry,
and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house?
When you see the naked,
that you cover him;
and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh?
Then your light will break out as the morning,
and your healing will appear quickly;
then your righteousness shall go before you,
and the LORD’s glory will be your rear guard.
Then you will call, and the LORD will answer.
You will cry for help, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’”
- Isaiah 58:6-9 (WEBBE)
“The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart,
and saves those who have a crushed spirit…
The LORD redeems the soul of his servants.
None of those who take refuge in him shall be condemned.”
- Psalm 34:18,22 (WEBBE)
“’But to you who fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings. You will go out and leap like calves of the stall. You shall tread down the wicked; for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I make,’ says the LORD of Armies.” – Malachi 4:2-3, WEBBE
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” - Matthew 5:3-4 (WEBBE)
“For the Lord GOD says: ‘Behold, I myself, even I, will search for my sheep, and will seek them out. As a shepherd seeks out his flock in the day that he is amongst his sheep that are scattered abroad, so I will seek out my sheep. I will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day… I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I will cause them to lie down,’ says the Lord GOD. ‘I will seek that which was lost, and will bring back that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick...’” - Ezekiel 34 (WEBBE)
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain any more. The first things have passed away.” – Revelation 21:4 (WEBBE)
