God’s Protection
“Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you.
Yes, I will help you.
Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.”
- Isaiah 41:10, WEBBE
Put faith into practice by thinking on these four truths: God is always present. Nothing happens without his permission or outside of his will. Anything we do to others we do to him. All kindness and goodness are in him. – St. Bernadette
God is protecting us. In ways unknown and invisible, in ways mysterious and wise. We may not see it, we may not feel it; but God is keeping us from harm.
O, if we could only see the invisible walls surrounding us, defending us from evils we cannot see. If we only knew how many times we have been saved from harm, protected from crosses too hard for us to bear! Without this shield, who knows what tragedies we’d have faced already, or what enemies would have already entered into our lives?
God loves us so much that He would not allow any pain or problem to touch us if it would not lead to our greater good and glory. He watches over us and has put us under the shadow of His wings.
Haven’t you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. – Job 1:10 (WEB)
God is Your Shield and Protection
When the storms of life get strong that we don’t know anymore where to hide, where do we go? When those closest to us fail us and hurt us, to whom can we confide in? Whom can we trust?
Since I have known God more intimately, I couldn’t help but be thankful that He is there. He is my Protector. He is my Shield. Though strong winds may blow, I need not be afraid because God Himself is with me, defending me.
“God is my rock in whom I take refuge;
my shield, and the horn of my salvation,
my high tower, and my refuge.…
He sent from on high and he took me.
He drew me out of many waters.
He delivered me from my strong enemy,
from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me.
They came on me in the day of my calamity,
but the LORD was my support.
He also brought me out into a large place.
He delivered me, because he delighted in me.
-2 Samuel 22:3, 17-20, WEBBE
God Works In Mysterious Ways
God works in mysterious ways. He turns a simple seed into a mighty tree and a lowly caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly! Who knows what wonders He is accomplishing right now beyond our notice?
There are times when we may grow impatient for we do not see what God is doing. We do not know when He would ever answer our prayers.
But God is never idle. In times when we think He is doing nothing, He is already accomplishing something beautiful and great! Quietly He does His work, closing doors that would harm us, paving a way even through the desert to make a way for us, protecting us beyond our knowledge.
Who else is able to collect each drop of water from the sea and make the rain to fall? Who else is able to form the hills and the mountains out of nothing?
Take heart for your answer is coming. It may not arrive at the time or way you want, but if you keep your faith, it will definitely come in the perfect moment. It will not only satisfy you, it will astound you!
God moves in a mysterious way,
His wonders to perform;
He plants his footsteps in the sea,
And rides upon the storm.
…
Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take,
The clouds ye so much dread…
shall break in blessings on your head.
-William Cowper
Prayer for Deliverance from Evil
Immaculate Heart! Help us to conquer the menace of evil, which so easily takes root in the hearts of the people of today, and whose immeasurable effects already weigh down upon our modern world and seem to block the paths towards the future!
From famine and war, deliver us.
From nuclear war, from incalculable self-destruction, from every kind of war, deliver us.
From sins against the life of man from its very beginning, deliver us.
From hatred and from the demeaning of the dignity of the children of God, deliver us.
From every kind of injustice in the life of society, both national and international, deliver us.
From readiness to trample on the commandments of God, deliver us.
From attempts to stifle in human hearts the very truth of God, deliver us.
From the loss of awareness of good and evil, deliver us.
From sins against the Holy Spirit, deliver us, deliver us.
Accept, O Mother of Christ, this cry laden with the sufferings of all individual human beings, laden with the sufferings of whole societies.
Help us with the power of the Holy Spirit to conquer all sin: individual sin and the "sin of the world", sin in all its manifestations.
Let there be revealed, once more, in the history of the world the infinite saving power of the Redemption: the power of merciful Love! May it put a stop to evil! May it transform consciences! May your Immaculate Heart reveal for all the light of Hope!
-Saint John Paul II, Consecration of all Individuals and Peoples of the World to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1984
“Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” -James 4:7-8, WEBBE
"The Spirit of God is a spirit of peace. Even in the most serious faults He makes us feel a sorrow that is tranquil, humble, and confident. This is precisely because of His mercy. The spirit of the devil, instead, excites, exasperates, and makes us feel, in that very sorrow, anger against ourselves. We should, on the contrary, be charitable with ourselves first and foremost. Therefore if any thought agitates you, this agitation never comes from God, who gives you peace, being the spirit of peace, but from the devil.” - St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina
“The devil is nothing against the mercy of God.”- Gabriele Amorth
