Have You Ever Wondered What It’s Like To Fly?
Let's talk about what spiritual growth is like
“Yes most certainly, and I count all things to be a loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus, my Lord, for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and count them nothing but refuse, that I may gain Christ…” - Philippians 3:8, WEBBE
I wrote the poem “What Is It Like To Fly?” while envisioning the flight of the soul towards heaven. When a soul aspires to reach heaven, it must overcome its many fears. It must also leave behind everything it holds dear. The truth is that it must even be willing to die to self before it could proceed to a new life in Christ.
Spiritual growth is never easy. But we must decide daily to carry our cross for the sake of that one thing that it treasures most: the love of God.
“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who is a merchant seeking fine pearls, who having found one pearl of great price, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.” - Matthew 13:45-46, WEBBE
What Is It Like To Fly?
What is it like to fly?
It is jumping into the invisible
and launching into the unknown...
It is trusting your dreams
more than fearing your fears.
It is an exaltation of the heart,
risking everything
to gain that which matters most...
to gain that which seems impossible.
To fly is to risk dying
so you can find new life.
To fly is to leave behind everything
so you may touch the face of heaven!
