Here’s One Thing That Keeps You From Growing Your Websites
I was guilty of this, too!
Trying to grow your website, blog or even your Medium publication is such a challenge considering the number of your competitors and the complexity of SEO methods you have to apply today.
But while it is not surprising to see a lack of growth for a period of time, you may come to notice that the result of your efforts seem to taper off at one point or the other. This is especially true when you are a new writer or blogger who wants to grow your site.
Here are some things you may think are affecting your growth:
1. Lack of time
2. Lack of motivation
3. Lack of topic to write about
All of the above may be true. But there is one thing that affects most writers who are just beginning to grow their websites, and I’m often guilty of it!
The one thing that keeps you from growing in your online presence is:
Always looking back to see your statistics and the money you’ve earned so far!
That’s right. Who hasn’t been guilty of checking one’s number of viewers or followers several times more than what’s necessary? Instead of writing or doing other productive tasks, you find yourself monitoring the results of your efforts all the time. And if your time is wasted on this task, isn’t it any wonder that you also earn less?
Resist the temptation to look at your statistics and earnings before you have accomplished the work you have to do!
When you waste your time monitoring your statistics and earnings, this is what happens:
1. You find less time to do your other productive tasks.
2. You stifle your momentum.
3. You run the risk of losing your motivation.
It isn’t wrong to be interested in monitoring the results of your efforts. But you should set aside time for it so that it does not get in the way of your other activities.
You should keep yourself from checking this information before you have applied the necessary work to grow your website or Medium publication.
Instead of always looking back, write more and read more. Engage with your audience. Do market research. Improve your SEO.
Do the work and the results will follow later on.
