How Do You Avoid the Worst Feeling a Person Could Ever Have?
“As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants after you, God.” (Psalm 42, WEB)
The worst feeling in the world is to have no one
It is the utmost poverty and desolation of the heart. It is a wound that only those who have experienced it could ever know.
Some people don’t have the slightest idea of what being alone means. Some think that just because you have people around you, you are no longer lonely. They think that it is enough to be seen, to be called, to be heard.
But it isn’t enough
It isn’t enough to be merely seen, we must be seen for who we really are. It isn’t enough to be called, our dignity must also be recognized. It isn’t enough to be heard, we have a longing to be listened to out of the very depths of our soul.
For our souls were never meant to be alone
Our hearts were never meant to be ignored. Deep within us, we have a yearning to love and to be loved, to be taken care of and to take good care of someone.
Blessed are those who have found true friends and true hearts! Blessed are those who are showered each day with love.
Yet even then, there will always be a space within our hearts that will be left aching and longing for more, a space that yearns to be understood completely, to be loved infinitely, to be touched in such a way as to be lifted up from the prison of even our own selves.
Only God can touch this space, this sacred space
Only God can fill this emptiness which no one, not even the best of men can fill.
For who but God can know us more than we could ever know ourselves? Who but Him can enter the deepest wounds of our souls and heal it? Who but Him can stay with us forever, never to leave us even in our worst and darkest days?
To Love is Beautiful
To LOVE is the most beautiful thing we could ever do,
The most beautiful that could ever be done for us…
Yet to love in this life, we must look beyond the crooked,
the dirty and the unpalatable.
To be able to LOVE, one must love in places
where comfort is rare, and where pain is deep.
One must love where the storm is fiercest,
and where the light is faint.
For it is not mere excitement that defines love.
It is not a fleeting adventure,
or a grand but fading song…
Love is that which is strong enough
to survive the harshest winter
and the monotony of daily life…
Love is beyond skin, beyond sickness,
beyond frailty, beyond death…
Love is the only thing that remains
after all the darkness fades away,
For Love is light beyond measure and life without end,
Love is God,
and God is the most beautiful of all!
