How to Minimize Stress Using this Simple Spiritual Solution
Stress seems to be a regular part of our daily lives
We get stressed as we brave the traffic on our way to work. We get stressed when we fear not meeting our deadlines at the office. We even get stressed as we try to find time for our hobbies!
Thinking about it, however, I have realized that there is but one major cause of our stress: our obsessive desire to meet our goals! We’ve become so goal-oriented that we fear anything that could ever get in the way of meeting them.
Our goals may be composed of big and small ones — it can consist of achieving our dream job, of realizing our ideal financial status, of finding the people we want to spend the rest of our life with, and even of keeping up with other people’s expectations of us.
In the end, though, how much of these could really be within our power to attain?
Which of these are vital for us to live meaningful lives? And which of these even if not achieved could ever destroy what’s truly important within us?
It’s not bad to plan, to prioritize and to schedule the attainment of our goals. What causes our stress is our imbalanced anxiety if such goals couldn’t be attained. With our many goals in mind, we’re afraid we couldn’t achieve them all.
To live a peaceful life with less stress, why not live with one major goal that could replace all the other goals we have in life?
Why not make it a goal to accomplish the ‘will of God’?
“Also delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4, WEB-BE)
After all, only that goal carries with it an assurance — the certainty of God’s promise to help us fulfill it, and by so fulfilling it, we also achieve the best course for our own lives.
“”Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires; God will satisfy them fully!” (Matthew 5:6,GNT)
