“Music cleanses the understanding; inspires it, and lifts it into a realm which it would not reach if it were left to itself.” - Henry Ward Beecher
Today, I’d like to share with you my special interest in a certain type of music. While I enjoy other types of music such as Pop, Rock and Country music, I can’t help but be inspired also with Classical and Opera music.
I am no expert in this, and I may not have even defined the types of music properly. But I have felt it in my heart and soul.
“I haven't understood a bar of music in my life, but I have felt it.” - Igor Stravinsky
Let me share with you some songs by Suzan Erens. I particularly loved her performances with André Rieu (violinist, conductor and founder of the Johann Strauss Orchestra).
When I listen to their performances, it’s as though I’m suddenly being transported into another time and place, a place closer to heaven.
Haven’t we all had those days when we’re just so stressed we don’t know how we could relax a little? I think that’s where music can come in to help us.
When we listen to a music that soothes the soul, there is some part within us that listens and that resonates with the beauty we hear.
It’s like basking in the light of the sun when you need to feel warm. Or drinking a cup of coffee when you feel you need to be awake.
There are so many things that weigh us down and clutter our minds. Why not take some time to wash away those things by drawing close to something pure?
“Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” - Berthold Auerbach
“A man should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of his life, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful which God has implanted in the human soul.” - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
