The Most Touching Words I've Always Wanted to Hear
I think that if I ever get to heaven, the most touching words I could ever hear are not the words "I love you."
I don't know why. Maybe because those words have so often been used and misused that they have already lost their true meaning. Even if I want to, I could no longer hear it right.
Sometimes those words are a mere façade to make you feel good. Sometimes those words aim to comfort only the one who says it. Sometimes you don't know where they're really coming from.
Is the person saying it because he has seen something he likes about me? Is he saying it because he is just a loving person who loves everyone? Is he saying it because I have earned it and I now deserve them as a reward?
If I ever get to heaven, I think the most touching words I could ever hear
are these: “I understand”.
I understand you. I know you. I have seen you fall and I have seen you fail. But I understand. I know where you've been. I know how difficult it has been for you. I saw you struggle when everyone else seemed against you. I saw how you continued to make one step after another even when all seemed lost.
I understand. I have made room for your mistakes. I have made room for your anger. I have made room for your tears.
I love you. But more than anything else, I'd like to let you know that you are not alone. Lean upon me now and trust me. More than anybody else, have faith in me when I say, "I understand."
"The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness... As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us... For he knows how we are made. He remembers that we are dust."(Psalms 103:8,12,14 WEB-BE)
