The Pope's Message to the World
I’d like to share with you today the Pope’s message to the entire world on Friday as he gave the special Urbi et Orbi blessing.
Here is the Pope’s meditation:
“Thick darkness has gathered over our squares, our streets and our cities; it has taken over our lives, filling everything with a deafening silence and a distressing void, that stops everything as it passes by; we feel it in the air, we notice in people’s gestures, their glances give them away. We find ourselves afraid and lost. Like the disciples in the Gospel we were caught off guard by an unexpected, turbulent storm. We have realized that we are on the same boat, all of us fragile and disoriented, but at the same time important and needed, all of us called to row together, each of us in need of comforting the other. On this boat… are all of us.”

The Pope also gave special indulgences for those who are sick with the Coronavirus (COVID-19), as well as to their loved ones and caregivers and to those who offer their prayers for their sake.
“The gift of special Indulgences is granted to the faithful suffering from COVID-19 disease, commonly known as Coronavirus, as well as to health care workers, family members and all those who in any capacity, including through prayer, care for them.”

If you can pray the Holy Rosary, read the Bible for at least half an hour, or pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for the sake of those who suffer from the COVID-19 pandemic, you may receive the Plenary Indulgence subject to the conditions mentioned in the above Decree. Let us pray for one another and offer our pious actions and devotions to God.
