Have you ever had those times when you felt a little lonely despite all the wonderful things in your life?
The odd thing is that you are not alone.
There are lonely people everywhere, each one needing to feel a little more connected or understood.
What if all the lonely people could somehow reach out to each other? What if we could somehow brighten another person’s day with a smile, a nod or a pat on the shoulder?
Because everybody’s a little lonely somehow. Even the ones we see laughing all the time. Even those we may envy for their perfect lives.
Everybody’s a Little Lonely
Everybody's a little lonely —
The young ones and the old ones,
The poor ones and the rich ones,
Those who know how to laugh,
And those who learned how to cry.
Everybody's a little lonely —
The sick ones and the healthy ones,
The frail ones and the strong ones,
Those who know how to be brave,
And those who cannot cast their fears aside.
'Cause everybody's a little lonely —
The single ones and the married ones,
The serious ones and the jolly ones,
Those surrounded by a crowd,
And those who have no one by their side.
I hope someday we'd learn to see,
That there's a bit of lonely in you and me.
Maybe then we could finally understand
Once we become each other’s friend,
walking side by side and hand in hand.
“All I ever wanted was to reach out and touch another human being not just with my hands but with my heart.” - Tahereh Mafi, Shatter Me
