When Uncertain Times Call for Unwavering Faith
And I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year:
“Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.”
And he replied:
“Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the Hand of God.
That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way.”

I must admit that there are times when I worry about the future. Considering these difficult times, I wonder about how the world would look like after 10 or 20 years. Sometimes I even wonder about how we’d all go about our lives for the next two years.
The world has changed so much recently because of the pandemic and there’s no indication that our troubles would soon be over. Even our faith is being challenged daily as we continue to stand up for what we believe in each day.
How I wish there could be a way to somehow find a sense of stability in things again. The “new normal” doesn’t feel normal at all. The sense of safety and freedom we once knew no longer seems to exist.
Somehow, however, I realize how even these things can be used by God. Now, more than ever, He is showing us that there is truly no safety in anything else other than in Him.
The simple truth is that we don’t really know what would happen tomorrow or the day after that.
We can guess all we want, we can depend upon our current resources, we can put our hopes in modern technology but at the end of the day, we could never find the certainty that could erase all anxiety.
At the end of the day, only God will have the final say. It is His wisdom that will decide. It is His power that will be at work in our lives. And it is His love that will always see us through.
“I will lift up my eyes to the hills.
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD,
who made heaven and earth.”
- Psalm 121, WEB-BE
When the World Stood Still
All the world stood still,
And we all must stand apart.
That day when freedom died,
And we all cried with broken hearts.
All the world stood still,
And there’s no room for you and me.
We tried to reach out with our hands,
But no one came to set us free.
And the earth looked empty from above,
For no soul roamed to call it home.
And we all craved so much for love,
For we all felt we're all alone.
All the world stood still,
And we know not what tomorrow holds.
Is it possible to dream again,
When you know not what shall unfold?
And so we keep our prayers in our hearts,
As we try to light a spark in the dark.
All the world has stood still,
But we fight on 'til the morning comes.

“The deepest wounds of the soul are healed only by compassion… People do not merely need to be clothed, they need to be embraced with love. A love that enters into their own fears and frailty, a love that suffers with them and stays with them through their darkest hour.”
I will betroth you to me forever. Yes, I will betroth you to me in righteousness, in justice, in loving kindness, and in compassion.
— Hosea 2
