We wound each other. Deeply. Many times, we'll never know how much we've caused each other pain. And this we do no matter how well-intentioned we may be. Sometimes, we hurt others for the very fact that we think we're doing something right.
In the end, all we can do is to give others the benefit of the doubt and try to be as gentle as we can be. Let's lift up our wounded hearts to God for only He can heal us and make us able to forgive.
Wasn't His Sacred Heart also pierced by a lance? For our sake, He shed the most precious blood from the depths of His heart.
Let His blood then cover all the hatred, pain and anguish that has been passed on to us. Let it wash away the sin that breaks our ties with one another.
We must all bear our crosses. But God never intended that we bear it apart from Him.
In this cold and painful world, there is Someone who walks with us and who understands our every cry. With Him, we will never be alone.
“Though I walk in the midst of dangers,
you guard my life when my enemies rage.
You stretch out your hand;
your right hand saves me.
The Lord is with me to the end.
Lord, your mercy endures forever.”
-Psalm 138:7-8 (NRSVCE)
PRAYER
Dear Father, grant me the grace to empathize with others that I may not carelessly say or do something that can hurt my neighbor.
Guide my lips that I may not speak harshly. Enlighten my mind that I may not overlook the difficulties other people are going through.
Most of all, strengthen my heart and help me to forgive in times when I get hurt deeply.
In you I entrust my wounded heart. Heal me, O Lord and let me also be an instrument of your healing, mercy and love. Amen.
