Why Faith in God is Not Like Shopping

Loving God is not like trying to shop for the best merchandise. You do not compare Him as though you're comparing one item over another and then choosing what you prefer. You don't prefer Him over anyone. He is the only One! There is no other.

If you think of having faith in God just like you think of shopping, you'd end up the wrong way. When you do it like that, there would always be an option to choose another belief when your current one is no longer as convenient or as useful to you. Whenever you encounter some difficulty, you'd find it so easy to back away. After all, there are more options included in your list.

But if you are trying to search for Truth and you find it in God, it would not be so easy to throw it away. You'd try your best to seek the answers. You'd try to work it out even when things get more difficult than you expect them to.

Because it's either you have seen the Way or you have yet to find it. If you have seen it, you'd walk in it even when the paths become rough or narrow. You'd pursue it even when you need to climb steep steps or go down roads where you could no longer smell the flowers or remember the radiance of the sun.

God is not one among many. He is the only One.
