A lot of our Christian life is about waiting. Perhaps that is why the very first word that describes love is patience.
“Love is patient…” - 1 Corinthians 13 (NRSVCE)
In our relationship with our brothers and sisters, we often take a pause to let our temper subside. We wait as we listen to our neighbor. We wait until we can build a bridge of understanding wherever we may be.
We do the same as we pursue our God-given mission in life. Even if we have the conviction that we are doing His will, we still have to wait for the fulfillment of His plans. Many times, we are called to plant the seeds, but we must endure seasons of waiting before we can see its fruits.
And so it is also with our prayer life. We may experience spiritual dryness now and then. Even if we begin with the best of intentions, we may not always feel the sweetness and consolation or even the connection we used to have.
But we continue to wait for the Lord. We surrender ourselves and our prayers. We wait for Him to come. And He does come. At the right place and at the right time. For no one who calls on Him will ever be disappointed or put to shame.
What is the Lord calling you to do today?
Many times, a part of that call would be a time of patient waiting.
“For God alone my soul waits in silence,
for my hope is from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be shaken.”
-Psalm 62:5-6 (NRSVCE)
